I miss my son!

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, yours truly has been sick as a dog since Sunday.  I'm just now starting to feel human again.  I haven't been able to visit Austin since last Friday and I've missed him a lot.  Thankfully Jamie has been sending lots of pictures and calling with updates.  And there have been quite a few developments.

Late last week, Austin graduated from his isolette to a crib.  He's maintaining his temperature so well that he no longer requires the controlled environment of the isolette.  He's also been spending some time at Mom's breast and is making good progress on latching on and doing what he's supposed to do there.

Most importantly, his nasal trumpet was removed Monday morning and he is doing just fine without it.  He's now on nasal cannula to provide him with the small amount of oxygen he is requiring.

He'll most likely move up to the ICN (Intermediate Care Nursery) tomorrow since he's doing so well.  We'll miss all of the folks in the NICU but this is one big step closer to him coming home.

As of tonight, Austin weighs 5 lbs, 3 oz and is measuring 18 1/2 inches long.  He's grown so much that preemie clothes no longer fit him.    :)

That's all for tonight, I need to get some rest so I can kick the remainder of this cold.  I'm hoping to visit tomorrow.
