A cure for the hangover

A big congratulations to our good friends Bliss and John on their marriage last night.  Jamie and I had the privilege of attending and we had an absolute blast.  There were around 300 guests so we were able to catch up with many, many friends that we haven't seen in a long time.  I was amazed at the number of people that let us know they've been following the blog and pulling for Austin.  Thanks to each of you that we chatted with last night for your well-wishes and support.

Yesterday was the first day that neither Jamie or I visited Austin in the NICU.  We took the day to paint his nursery and to celebrate the King/Carlson wedding.  Knowing where he's at and the level of care he's receiving made it relatively easy to take a day off.

Open bar at the wedding last night and I was paying the price this morning.  However, I found a new cure for the hangover....it involves bacon and eggs followed by an hour and a half of kangaroo care with your son.  It cleared the 'ol headache up right away.  For those of you not versed in NICU terminology, kangaroo care is skin-to-skin contact between parent and baby.  You've seen the pictures in earlier posts.

Austin is still doing very well.  His weight is up to 3 lbs, 11 oz which means he's finally passed his birth weight.  He continues to tolerate his feeds well and is only requiring a whiff of oxygen every now and then.  The nurses changed his face tape today and snapped a few pictures for us.  We think he's pretty damn cute.  :)

  1. You are right, he is so cute. I am so glad to hear that he continues to do well...I will continue to keep he and your family in my prayers. Tell Jamie that Teri Jones says hi (since you probably don't know who I am:) Can't wait to see more and more pictures of your new little family!
